An Omaha native and nationally respected
artist, Dick Warsocki has spent almost half his life working
behind a tattoo machine. As founder of Grinn & Barrett,
he helped promote tattoo culture in Omaha and is a time-honored
veteran of the craft.
Make no mistake -- when it comes to dropping
names, Dick has an impressive laundry list of peers, including:
Jack Rudy, Suzann Fauser, Shoemaker Mike, Louie Lomoi, Steve
Fergusen, Fat George, Bryan Everett, Sailor Moses, Deana
Rudnicki, Burt Rodriguez and Paul Booth to name a few.
Dick spent time on the road working the
“tattoo tour”, spreading ink across the country
as a visiting artist. He tattooed with some of the best
in the industry and also did time in California -- working
at Good Time Charlie’s Tattoo Land in Anaheim.
Needless to say, Dick’s been there
and done that.
Dick sold Grinn & Barrett
to his former employee Jen Beirola in 2006 with plans to
retire, but since retirement, “is for people with
nothing better to do,” you can find him at the shop
laying ink with the rest of the crew. When he’s not
brandishing a tattoo machine, you can probably bet Dick
is either working on his hot rod or spending time at his
favorite fishing spot.
“I can catch any fish that swims,
with a rubber chicken. And I’ve been here longer than
rock & roll. I also know who Allison Kruse, Jeffery
Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Shroeder are.”
